CORVUS CORONE - Home, Garden and Kitchen Wares
Spurtle, Spirtle Or Theevil - Scottish Porridge Stirrer £2.99
Manufactured by T&G Woodware

Traditions and myth surround the making of porridge , some say porridge should only be stirred in a clock wise direction using the right hand so you don't summon the Devil. The stirring is done with a tapered wooden stick without flat end and is known in Scotland as a 'Spurtle' or 'Theevil'. Porridge should always be spoken of as 'they' and it should be eaten standing up using a bone spoon. Ideal for stirring 'leetch yuh', 'milgruel' or 'tartan purry' this spurtle is made from FSC beech and has a decorative thistle knop. (27 cm long or 11 inches)
